CHARLEROI REVITALIZATION PROJECTThis urban revitalization project involved improvements to Charleroi's downtown central business district. Planning considerations included improved parking accommodations and pedestrian walkways along with improvements to the infrastructure that included underground utilities, street lighting and signage, and development of green spaces to accommodate landscaping and park bench seating to promote pedestrian gathering. Plighted buildings were assessed for demolition and rarely used alleyways were re-designed to provide off-street landscaped parking lots with landscaped pedestrian walkways connecting main streets. |
